Picking an Invitation
Before you go to look at the Wedding Invitations available in Toronto, Mississauga or anywhere
Step 1: Browse the Internet and look at wedding magazines to get an idea of the many different shapes and styles and then begin narrowing down your choices.
Step 2: Start by choosing the paper. Smooth-edged or torn? Textured or plain? Color and weight.
Step 3: Pick the font you want on your invitation. Script fonts can make the invitation both more formal and more personal.
Step 4: Decide on the wording. Often, this will depend on who is paying for the wedding. If the parents are paying, then their names should come first, such as “Mr. and Mrs. John Doe cordially invite you to the wedding of…”. If you are paying for the wedding, then mentioning the parents is not necessary. Some couple opt for putting " Together with their parents"
Step 5: Request invitation samples.
Step 6: Finish your selection process and order at least 4 months in advance of the date. This allows the invitations to be printed and delivered to you on time.
How many Invitations do you need
Order about 25% more than the number of guests you’re inviting. You’re bound to make mistakes or make last minute additions. Always remember to have a few for keepsakes! If there is a child over the age of 18 living at home it is customary to include their name on the outer envelope or send them their own invitations
When to mail them
You want to mail out the invitations about 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding and it usually will take about 2 to 6 weeks to order and receive the final product. Leave about 1 week for yourself to address and send out the invitations.
What you'll need
invitation itself, a response card, an envelope for each (some couples choose to have an inner envelope for the invitation)
an optional reception card (if you have additional information) and an optional map or directional card for your guests.
Some couples may opt to send a Save-the-Date card if they are having their wedding on a holiday weekend or hosting a wedding outside of Toronto.
Addressing the envelopes
Most time addressing on envelopes is handwritten. The return address should be on the back flap of your invitation envelope (this is not standard and usually is an added cost) and on the front of your response envelope (is included) and should be the address of whoever is hosting the wedding. When you are addressing the envelope, you should always address it with the correct title and names.
If you are sending it to a married couple, use 'Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mallman' and if a single invitation with a guest, use 'Ms. Rebecca Single and Guest'. |
